The 17th edition of the MFF for Children and Young Audiences Announces Winners!
The winner in the competitive category: International Competition of Feature and Animated Films for Children Aged 6-9 is the film FOX AND HARE SAVE THE FOREST, directed by Mascha Halberstad.
The jury, consisting of Bára Fišerová, Susanne Finken, and Tomáš Danay, chose this film for its precise and affectionate animation, charming characters with their special traits, and its overall message that friendship conquers all.
The winner in the competitive category: International Competition of Feature and Animated Films for Children Aged 10-14 is the film WINNERS, directed by Soleen Yusef.
The jury, made up of Hilde Steenssens, Antonia Grimaldi, and Pavel Kern, praised “Winners” as a beautifully crafted and timely film that sensitively addresses the challenges faced by young refugees seeking belonging and identity in a new country.
The winner in the competitive category: International Competition of Feature and Animated Films for Children Aged 14-16 is the film GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS, directed by Shuchi Talati.
The jury, consisting of Alice Aronová, Chloe Van Baar, and Michael Carrington, appreciated how the film uses gentle humour and sensitivity to tell the coming-of-age story of sixteen-year-old Mira at a boarding school in the Himalayas. It also offers an insight into a different corner of the world and reflects the position of women in contemporary Hindu society in India.
